It’s Fatal Friday in the lost city again, today we have a redesign concept for Mokap from Mortal Kombat.
This was originally done for a contest on Deviant Art in the #MK-Rebirth group, “Love for the Unloved”. Members were given a list of unpopular characters with the mandate to create. Mokap (IMO) had one of the most boring costumes in Mortal Kombat history so he fit the bill and would provide a good challenge for me.
I tried to make Mokap’s costume better, combining elements from various motion capture suits and wetsuits.
I still don’t like Mokap, but hopefully you’ll find him a little more interesting now.
It’s Fatal Friday again, time for some Mortal Kombat fanart; today we have Jade.
This is my re-design of Jade from Mortal Kombat.
This drawing of Jade is one of my earlier Mortal Kombat re designs, done in the earlier 2000’s.
When I created this image of Jade I incorporated some vaguely middle eastern designs to give her a more unique look.
Todays guest for Fatal Friday in the Lost City is Rain.
The Prince of Edenia, Rain is the purple ninja in the rainbow of Mortal Kombat ninjas.
Originally a joke character (Purple Rain – Prince ha ha, very funny Boon and Tobias).
With this image I tried to depict the raw power of the storm, make Rain somewhat regal and keep him fairly “Ninja-like”
I borrowed heavily from Indian art to design his costume. I’m pretty happy with the final result.
Fatal Friday in the Lost City has Sektor today.
The red cyber ninja was easily my favorite character when Mortal Kombat 3 came out. Sektor simply appealed to me in some way and I found him to be exceptional to play as.
I believe this is the second or third piece of Mortal Kombat fanart I produced. I wasn’t going to any particular style with this redesign, though I did work in some fun elements.
Sektor’s helmet is derived from the design of the “Predator” mask. I was (and still am) a fan of the Predator franchiase so I worked some of that into the image. I also worked a few elements unique to Sektor into this drawing. Sektor has a teleport ability and his “Animality” had him transform into a bat. For this drawing I have him teleporting, with the smoke from his teleport taking the form of bats. I don’t think that part translated very well, but regardless, Sektor is awesome!
It’s Fatal Friday again here in the Lost City, today we have Meat
This is a more recent redesign of Meat from Mortal Kombat, created shortly after the release of Mortal Kombat 9.
I originally made this as an entry for the “Love for the Unloved” contest over on DeviantArts MK Rebirth group.
So I was thinking about what could make Meat more interesting and fun to play? Really not a lot I can do to a flayed man to make hime more visually interesting.
Then it hit me…what if, in the new timeline established in MK9, Shang Tsung’s experiment was not human, but Tartakan.
After all he does has a history of Tartakan experimentation.
Thus we have another Tartakan/Human hybrid, this time resulting in Meat.
That was the basis for Meat’s general look. His costume is clearly inspired by Mileena Flesh Pit costume.
